Simcoe County Lake Tour
I followed the north shore of Kempenfelt Bay from Barrie to Orillia along the beautiful route of Ridge Road.
1-Boats are starting to go in at Carthew Bay, Lake Simcoe., even though there is still ice on the lake just beyond Eight Mile Point, in the background.
2-Headed north to Bass Lake where I saw two kayaks skimming along the shoreline. Things are coming to like slowly, including Bass Lake Provincial Park.
3-Heading further north brings me to a farm where I can see the steep ridge where the snow is still on the slopes of Mount St. Louis, visible in the distance, between the trees. A long climb lies ahead of me…
4-Last time I was at Orr Lake on New Year’s Eve, west of Mount St. Louis, I skiied across the ice with my buddy Nick Wagar, who lives by the lake. We skiied right to this small park where later this year we will launch a canoe for some fishing.
I didn’t have the legs to make it all the way to Wasaga Beach where I likely would have seen ice still on Georgian Bay. Although, I did get a beautiful view of Blue Mountain on the Niagara Escarpment. Maybe next time…
I never get tired of the beautiful lakes in Simcoe County. We are so lucky to live here.
