My mom is half the reason I am as crazy about cycling as I am. You’ll hear about the other half on Father’s day…

Mom has always shown by example that we need to appreciate the simple things in life, (like going for a bike ride together). I am so grateful that she has instilled this value in me. Also by example, she demonstrates perseverance and that “slow and steady wins the race”. Our family witnessed this determination a few years back on an MS Bike Ride, where my 75 year old mother spent the whole second day of the Ride cycling into a relentless headwind. She was the last rider off of the course. She even turned down an offer to get a lift from the sag-wagon for the last few kilometers. Determination.

Of course, being a mother, she also shows all of her 6 children and 11 grandchildren what unconditional love and caring is all about. We are lucky to have her and we love her very much! Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
