This kind of stark scene always fascinates me when I look up into the sky. I am fascinated by the notion that way up there, 35,000 feet above the earth, hurtling through the thin atmosphere at nearly the speed of sound, is a peaceful cabin full of passengers snoozing, reading, listening to music, quietly talking, and tending to young ones.

In their comfort, they are largely oblivious to the thin aluminum skin that separates them from the harsh and violent environment rushing past them outside. Their safety and comfort is mostly taken for granted. Air travel has become a rather mundane and unremarkable experience in the 21st century. Until the technology fails us; then it gets more exciting than we care for.
