During these dark days of late fall I always begin to feel a little boxed in by the blackness; especially on weekdays. Dark when I wake up. Dark when I have a run at the lake before breakfast. Dark when I come home from work. Dark when I take the hounds out for a walk after dinner. It makes me wanna hibernate until about mid-March when the daylight begins to push back at the edges of the darkness. So, on the weekend, when I get a chance to spend three hours riding my bike in the sunshine with a good friend – even if it’s only four degrees out – it makes me feel brighter and more alive. It’s amazing what a little sunshine and endorphins, combined with some great company, can do for the spirit. And so, I ride on. And on. Two wheels to nowhere.
