Worstenbroodjes ~ a Dutch comfort food. Often a Chistmas treat. (1.5x qty)

7 (10-½) cups flour
2-¼ (3-3/8) cups hot water (130f)
2 (3) tblsp shortening
3 (4-½) tblsp sugar
2 (3) tspn salt
2 (3) packs regular yeast
1 (1.5) lb lean grnd beef
1 (1.5) lb med grnd pork
2 (3) eggs
2 (3) tspn curry
½ (¾) tspn basil
½ (¾) tspn oregano
½ (¾) tspn nutmeg
1 (1.5) tspn pepper
1 (1.5) tspn salt
1 egg, beaten

Mix 3-½ (5-½) cups flour, shortening, sugar, water, yeast (use a small portion of water per pkgg instructions), 2 tspn salt, use mixer on low-med. Hand stir remaining flour into mix 1 cup at a time until smooth. Knead for 10min. Place in greased bowl-warm spot to rise for 40-60 minutes.

Mix meat, spices, 2 (3) eggs. Roll into sausages.Preheat oven to 200f.

Punch down dough. Roll out dough to thin sheet.Cut rectangles to wrap sausages. Use water to glue wraps. Pinch ends closed. Place on baking sheet. Place in 200f oven to rise for 30 min. Remove from oven. Pre-heat oven to 350f. Brush beaten egg onto wraps. Place back in oven for 30 min.
