Forty years ago today Rumours was released. It became Fleetwood Mac’s most successful album selling 45 million copies. Much of the creative magic in the music came from the tumultuous relationships in the band during the recording sessions in 1976. You can hear the heartache and new hope so clearly in the music. At eleven years old, this album captured my attention like no other. For the following formative years of my youth, this collection of soulful songs was baked into my consciousness. It remains the one “desert island” album I would choose to keep with me if forced to choose a favourite. Not an easy choice with so many great albums to choose from but one I would make, nonetheless. It’s also impossible for me to pick a single favourite song on the album but “Never Going Back Again” is one that I often play alone on repeat…
