Two Wheels To Nowhere

It’s pretty rare to see a macaw riding a bike but heading across town after work on Friday, I met Jessica. This beautiful bird was enjoying a ride down at the Waterfront with Les. As they passed, I couldn’t help but ask the man if I could take a picture. They readily obliged and after a quick photograph, a very friendly Les and I chatted for a good ten minutes. I learned that macaws live as long as humans and take pleasure in teasing other pets and people living in the house. They make wonderful companions for life but not everyone can handle living with birds. They are loud and messy, needing lots of care. Too many people get macaws thinking it’ll make a nice ornament in the house not realizing that these very social animals need regular care and attention. Many end up being rescued from neglected existences. But not this bird! Jessica is obviously treated like a queen and lives a happy existence with her friendly and caring humans.
