Opinion | Choose to Be Grateful. It Will Make You Happier.
I’m glad that I stumbled across this thoughtful opinion. It reminded me to be thankful not for what I have but rather, for what I don’t have.
I don’t have to worry about where my next meal is coming from. I don’t have to search for shelter from the storm. I don’t have to beg for help to prevent my family from going hungry. I don’t have to fear persecution by those around me who hold differing ideals and beliefs. I don’t have to worry about crippling healthcare bills should one of us fall ill.
We are so very fortunate to not have these types of stressors as part of our daily life, unlike so many people in other parts of the world who struggle daily. It’s easy to take this status quo for granted in the daily distraction of our lives. Regularly being thankful for our good fortune and the simple things in life can actually make us feel better. Happy Thanksgiving!
“He is a man of sense who does not grieve for what he has not, but rejoices in what he has.” ~ Stoic philosopher Epictetus
