The Sun. The giver of all life to our World. It provides for our continued existence with a seemingly boundless ability to produce bountiful flora and fauna that in the end sustains us on a daily basis. Energy in all forms ultimately comes from the Sun. Whether it’s fossil fuels that we extract from the Earth millions of years after it thrived as biological life or whether is today’s direct Sunlight that radiates onto the panels of photovoltaic cells that we use to collect and convert the energy to an electric current that fuels our modern-day existence. It sustains our physical being in every sense of the word.
It also sustains our spirit in so many ways. Some of these have been explained by scientific study and has supported a growing understanding of how our mind is so intimately connected to our body. Some are not as clearly understood but still quite evident. The uplifting energy we feel when we see the Sun is undeniable. Even a brief glimpse of the Sun can almost immediately pull our mood out of the depths, shedding light on to what may otherwise may appear bleak to us. The warmth of the Sun on our skin feels exquisite, making us relax and recharge in a way that is not possible on a cold, dark Winter’s day. The awe that a beautiful Sunrise inspires in us can add a bounce in our step for the rest of the day. Or ending a long summer day viewing a Sunset over the Bay is remarkably satisfying to the soul.
In many past posts here, I have shared some of the views that I enjoyed on many of these moments in the Sun. It is these in moments that I stopped to appreciate what appeared before me. The alchemy of wonder, warmth and light plays a part in making me feel good, nurturing my soul and buoying my spirits and a realization that I have everything I need in life. Everything I need, ultimately provided to me by the Sun.
