Inventor Benjamin Bowden displays his Spacelander bicycle, “the cycle of the future”, London, September 1946.
The Spacelander eventually went into production in the USA in 1960. Despite its gorgeous design the bike was not a success, and only 522 were shipped at $89.50 (expensive).
There are, apparently, 38 Spacelanders left in the world, 17 of which are in the Bicycle Museum in Pennsylvania.
