noun
METEOROLOGY
A phenomenon or process in which there is rapid and sustained falling of barometric pressure in the center of a low-pressure system, indicative of its strengthening into a powerful storm. As in: “the storm will intensify rapidly, so quickly, in fact, that it will likely undergo bombogenesis”
In recent media, I’ve heard reference to “bomb cyclone”. Thinking it must be more than just sensational headline-grabbing hyperbole, I looked it up to find this definition. Now it makes more sense! Sit tight, stay warm. The storm will pass.
