Harrison Eric Kilroy

Born: January 2, 2022 ~ London Ontario

Just before the New Year, Chris and I headed to London for Harrison’s birthday, scheduled for January 1st. That’s the day Rachel would be ten days past due; the latest your typical OB would tolerate.

We spent a very quiet New Year’s Eve, hanging around the house relaxing and visiting with Rae and Luke; a few fine days of laughing, eating too much, walking the dogs, and… waiting.

Later on New Year’s Day, Rachel started feeling some minor pains and then was asked to come to the hospital around the corner from their house in Pond Mills. She and Luke settled in for the induction. After some hard but short labour, a healthy Harrison was born!

It was really great to be able to visit them at the hospital the next day. Chris and I were able to spend a couple of hours with ample opportunities to hold our grandson. We feel so fortunate! And I am honoured to have him named after me. I hope they haven’t cursed poor Harrison!

After the hospital visit, I headed back to Barrie for work and Chris stayed in London to help for the next week. The following weekend, I returned with Leah and Jordyn for another wonderful family visit and some more quality time with Harrison. It was so nice to see Leah mentoring her little sister with tips and newborn advice. It was also pretty special to see Jordyn and Harrison together. Only six months apart, these cousins are likely to grow up as very close friends, hopefully. We feel so fortunate to have all our family near us!
