a forecast of 12c and Sunshine was impossible to resist, even with the 25 kph West wind. heading out of Barrie, I chose a destination of Wasaga Beach so that I’d have that West wind on my tail the whole way home! riding through the Minesing Wetlands between Minesing and Wasaga Beach offered me some interesting sights of the Spring meltwater making its way to the Nottawasaga River and Georgian Bay. the rivers and streams were full, sometimes flowing over the banks, flooding farmers’ fields and forest floors as the water relentlessly made it’s way to whatever lower ground it could find. I also spotted two Trumpeter swans splashing in a flooded field and a Blue Heron taking flight from the ditch along Flos Five heading out of the Beach. a serendipitous meet-up with Jill and her buddy, Stace, added a nice social element along with our path crossing with Coach Steve who, while riding back home to the Beach, bared his tanned shins to the cool Ontario air after recently returning from Florida. a spectacular Spring spin and a not-so-foolish way to spend April 1st.
