Meaford Mixed Roads 2023

I was so happy to see four other riders at Meridian Place for the start! I hadn’t heard from any interested riders prior to last Sunday’s departure for Meaford; I figured people had other plans for the long weekend. Scott, Chris, Dan and Steve rolled out of Barrie with me where we picked up Chris near Hickling Trails. The weather was cool but Sunny and the group was positive and energized for an adventure! The starting group split off at Stayner leaving Chris and me heading to Collingwood on the Clearview Collingwood Train Trail. I was thankful for a strong partner on a proper gravel bike! Chris was key to pulling me through some long fresh gravel stretches. Thanks Chris! Unfortunately, a mechanical failure took Chris out of the ride just north of Devil’s Glen, so I had to finish the last 60 kilometres on my own. Luckily, seeing us stopped at the roadside, a fine lady stopped her car and offered Chris a ride to Creemore where I met him again for a coffee as he waited for his rescue ride.

All in all a great day on the bike with a stunningly beautiful route and a bit of adventure along the way. Meaford Mixed Roads will definitely be on the roster again in 2024 for the Two Wheels to Nowhere Fondo Series!
