this stretch of our journey brought us from one side of the Rockies to the other. breathtaking vistas, precipitous plunges into mountain valleys and a serious warning for putting chains on our tires as we passed through Eagle-Vail. snowfall wasn’t too severe in the end but nevertheless, Ian and I were happy to roll into Colorado Springs for the evening.
