after hunting down a recreational cannabis shop (surprisingly hard to find! lots of medical dispensaries, though), we made our way to Pike’s Peak to take in the highest summit of the southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. the Pike’s Peak Toll Road was closed at Mile 13 of 19 due to snow clearing operations but we still enjoyed some spectacular sights on a bluebird day. Pike National Forest is a carefully protected environment trying to achieve a precarious balance of thriving tourism and ecological preservation.
After taking in the Peak, we headed back into Colorado Springs before setting out for the prairies and our evening destination of Colby KS.
