Buckets of horizontal rain riding into a wailing Westerly headwind as I headed back into Barrie on Ridge Road followed by a biblical sunset over a besodden Burton Avenue. Wow. ~ September 3, 2020

Hammerfest – noun – A brutally fast ride or race, typically with friends.~ A pretty satisfying rip with a tight group today around the Big Chute route. Fastest ride I’ve had this season. A motivated and capable crew made it possible. Painful but incredibly satisfying. Speed is addictive.

An August day, in October ~ gravy; pure gravy. Sun is rising on the south side of the bay mouth now. Coffee ride to Orillia with the usual suspects, plus Dan, a newbie from Calgary. Saw an interesting COVID restaurant patio in Orillia with the Sunshine making for a satisfying street scene of it. Casual…

Early morning rides in late August no longer offered me a Sunrise over the Lake but still some interesting Twilight scenes. One here that made me hit the brakes while racing my way to meet up with the other early riders. A fog over Downtown with the clear sky showing in behind and an orange…

Mikayla spent the day at our house fending off scavengers so she wouldn’t starve. She’s walking now, albeit a bit wobbly still but enough that we’ve dusted off the baby gates so Mikayla doesn’t accidentally discover Gravity. So great spending the day with such a happy child.

humansofnewyork: “The story of the black cowboy began when our ancestors were brought to this country against their will. Many of them were adept with horses. The first Kentucky Derbies were won by black jockeys. One out of four cowboys in The West were black. But you never see that in the movies. My father…

It’s a pretty crude setup but it gets me 90% there. It’s not accurate or efficient; mainly, I just love doing it.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about building a wheel up from scratch. Besides listening to favourites tunes and drinking some wine during the three hours it took me to complete lacing it up, it’s an almost therapeutic exercise. As an inexperienced hack, it’s hardly as time efficient or precise as it should be, but maybe that’s…

I’ve been busy getting my two-wheeler fixed up and my “engine” ready for the big ride on Sunday! I am humbled by all the incredibly generous support I’ve had so far in fundraising to support the CMHA Simcoe County’s https://starttalking.ca/events/youth-shine-campaign/ initiative to improve resources for the Youth Mental Health Centre! I would greatly appreciate your…

wonders-of-the-cosmos: Saturn and two of its moons, Tethys (above) and Dione, were photographed by Voyager 1 on November 3, 1980, from 13 million kilometers. The shadows of Saturn’s three bright rings and Tethys are cast onto the cloud tops. The limb of the planet can be seen easily through the 3,500-kilometer-wide Cassini Division, which separates…

wonders-of-the-cosmos: Bioluminescent Plankton Scientists have only recently discovered that this type of plankton glows when they are moved because of stress – ironic when you consider how relaxing the sight of the shimmering waves are in the dark night.
