my dad used to curse aggressive, reckless drivers of fast and noisy motorcycles: “I hope he wraps himself around a telephone pole!”
honestly, I must confess I’ve had the same thoughts in recent years, as I find myself around the same (slightly more cantankerous) age as Dad was, back then.
Dad used to flip the bird at small aircraft that noisily passed over his otherwise peaceful, pastoral retirement digs. he used to curse “Hollywood mufflers” on Honda Civics that tore through the neighbourhood shredding the nerves of residents.
so, when I rode past the “guy who wrapped his motorcycle around a tree” on Oro-Medonte Line 5, I just had to laugh. I stopped for a photograph that I ended up sharing in a group chat later at work.
it wasn’t ten minutes after sharing these images that Evan, with his perennial playful sense of humour, had prompted an AI model to generate this satirical local newspaper headline. too funny! I intend to print it off and drop it into the adjacent mailbox on Line 5. I’m sure they’ll appreciate the fun that their front yard Halloween scene has created for local passers-by.
